FasTracKids partners with Jumpstart for an annual event held on one day of the year when millions of individuals come together to celebrate literacy and support efforts to promote early childhood education. Read for the Record® demonstrates the power of reading by bringing preschool age children and valued grownups together to read the same book on the same day.
In 2014 participating centers and schools successfully read the story Bunny Cakes by Rosemary Wells.
Bunny Cakes is the tale of Max and Ruby’s celebration of creativity, which is an important learning advantage in every FasTracKids classroom. Various centers and schools hosted exciting activities paired with a read-a-long of this comical children’s story.

A World Record 2,462,860 Participants!
FasTracKids participated in its 7th annual Read for the Record event, an international campaign that focuses on the importance of early childhood literacy. The goals for this event are setting a new world record for child participation while bringing awareness to the early literacy achievement gap.
On October 3, 2013, FasTracKids, Jumpstart and other early education supporters reached a new record by reading Otis by Loren Long. FasTracKids had 22,877 child readers from 16 countries contribute to a new world record of 2,462,860! Otis came to life at FasTracKids events that featured puppet shows, a digital version of the book on interactive whiteboards, costumes and children creating their own tractors. FasTracKids hopes to have even more reading advocates in 2014!
